 The process begins with understanding how conventional security works:

Conventional (most) security companies are backed with 24/7 support, which I would compare to the old Nokia brick cell phones. They receive calls and basic texts, but that’s about it. No video, no picture texts, no graphics, no extras. So when these conventional 24/7 support centers receive a text notifying them of an intruder, they are unable to use any visual verification to identify whether or not the threat is real. This leaves the support center two choices: alert security ($60-80 extra charge), or alert the owner.

Ideally the security guard would arrive on the scene in a matter or seconds, catching the intruders in the act. Unfortunately the average response time for a security guard is around 1/2 an hour. Needless to say, they don’t catch too many bad guys using conventional security systems.
